TITLE: Assessment of Physical, Chemical and Biological quality of Achencovil River.

The project was sanctioned in the month of October 2008 by Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment Council with a total outlay of Rs.23,75,000/-(Rupees Twenty Three Lakh and Seventy Five Thousand only). The project aims to assess the overall quality of Achencovil river water with special emphasis on Physico-chemical and biological properties. The project also aims to study the spatial and temporal distribution of zooplanktons and fishes in relation to edaphic factors of river water. Assessment on the source of pollution to river water and the microbial contamination of river water during pilgrim season and offseason is also on focus. The results shall reveal the status of Achencovil river water for various domestic uses. The project period is from October 2008 to October 2012.
